auntie jen is one of my oldest friends, she is also the woman i choose as my birthing partner/coach and the one who found shanna who teaches the bradley method (husband coached childbirth!).
we choose the bradley method of birthing because it is knowledge based. i knew i would need to know what was going on with my body at all stages of labor to keep fear at bay. i knew that fear would be the one thing that would stand in the way of a natural birth and opted to learn everything i could about the childbirth process.
so, i was pretty secure in the fact that knowledge and my yogic background would ensure easy sailing through all stages of bringing you into this world. (right....but that's another post)
every monday for weeks on end, jen, my mother and i, then later sydney and heidi, would attend classes at shanna's house. there were 5 other couples in class with us and we soon referred to as team wyatt.
jen was designated as head coach because i needed a very strong willed women who would be able to convey my birth plan to the hospital and keep their monitoring at a minimum. natural birthing is not supported in our local hospitals and fear of interventions was huge, especially considering that i was considered "high risk" due to age. the politics of your birth were rather troublesome, but we had an insider in the labor and delivery unit where you were born. that's auntie lexi's story which we will get to on another day.
we love jen, she did an amazing job at bringing you into this world and i truly believe we would not have had a natural birth without her calming my "i can't do this,i need drugs NOW" moments.
thank you juniper, though "thanks" hardly cover the gratitude i have for you.....
