my darling son, i want so much for you and have so many fears of mucking things up. after reading the "crazytown" post i wrote earlier today about your new toy, i found myself thinking about how i can raise you without all the mainstream material "have to haves" out on the market.
when i was pregnant with you, i had so many fears of being a mother and unsure of how to take care of you that i ended up in the consumer trap and now am the unproud owner of a lot of stuff we do not need or use. a few of you may remember my insane quest for cotton balls because i kept forgetting to buy them, and how i knew i'd be a terrible mother because i didn't have them. well, glad i wasted all that energy getting upset because we've used two so far. i'm not going to even go into the boppy, the sleep books, ect....let's just say that the woman's shelter is gonna have some tricked out mamas and babies.
if you look in our room right now, you will see a brand new, never used crib. basically it's the most expensive storage bin i've ever owned. live and learn. next we can take a look at your clothes, most have tags on them because we are happy in the same outfits. in fact, i have learned to live without much because i have no damn room for my things!
now i feel overwhelmed, with stuff...when all i want for you is to experience a joyful life. to travel and play in the dirt. to love and be of service to others. and so much more than what "crazytown" or elmo can provide.
